Research has shown that rich experiences are crucial in creating a strong foundation for young learners to thrive. Such experiences are facilitated through their daily routines that occur in their home or school environment. Family child cares are unique settings that provide children with learning opportunities while still preserving a sense and comforts of ‘home.’ For some, however, family child care providers are seen as ‘nannies’ or ‘babysitters.’ Therefore, there needs to be an ongoing effort to promote and maintain professionalism for us to build rapport with those we serve. This workshop will discuss what professionalism means, why it’s important and how to achieve it.
