Options for Learning staff go above and beyond to help families every day, but they show the true spirit of giving during the holidays. Since most of the families we serve are low income, giving gifts to their children or putting a nice meal together is often a hardship. Our staff collect donations from fellow employees, local businesses, chambers of commerce and other non-profits to bring some joy to the families we serve.
Our Head Start South El Monte staff, along with local businesses, gave 15 deserving families gifts for their children and a grocery store gift card to help with a holiday meal.
Our State Preschool Site Director at Rowland Elementary noticed a huge need this Christmas and reached out to the community fire department for toys and, in collaboration with the local food bank, received 12 boxes of food for her families in need. One of the families was a father, the sole provider for his family, who recently had a stroke and has been unable to work.
Our Child Care Services division brought good cheer to the lives of over 25 families this year. Read more.
Our Full-day Preschool program displayed an act of kindness to one of their families who suffered a recent tragedy. The staff stepped up to deliver some much-needed assistance and joy to their home!
Our Early Head Start program distributed over 50 cases of diapers and wipes, along with over 100 toys, thanks to our community partner Baby2Baby. Additionally, with a generous donation from the Molina Foundation, Options for Learning was able to distribute books to every child in our Early Head Start program.
Our Surround Care program staff council and Surround Care staff shared their kindness during this holiday season after identifying 9 families who were in need. They gathered donations and gave gift cards and toys to the families.
Options for Learning is a family-friendly employer and our staff exemplify this in their actions every day.
