Curriculum

Options for Learning's Enrichment Program has a strong focus on active learning that supports the curriculum from school day instruction. We implement project-based learning, which helps develop 21st-century students with 21st-century skills. Our teachers align themselves with the school day by incorporating the Common Core Standards, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math), social-emotional learning (SEL), and activities into their everyday planning and activities.

To ensure that the Enrichment Program stays competitive in the out-of-school time field, we’ve adopted the Learning in Afterschool and Summer principles into our project-based learning academic enrichment component.

In addition to the academic enrichment component, we also provide homework assistance, structured physical fitness activities, a nutritious snack, and college and career readiness activities. Students are kept engaged during the afterschool hours through learning activities offered in a safe and nurturing environment.

Professional consultants are hired to provide classes on a wide variety of interests and topics, such as drama/acting, technology (which includes coding and Google slides), soccer, basketball, folklorico dancing, hip hop, fitness and yoga. Enrichment Program teachers also implement various clubs on a monthly basis such as engineering, video production, music/rock band, cooking and gardening.

Proven results
The Enrichment Program creates annual goals, then documents and tracks student outcomes in order to yield success and maintain our funding. Measuring the effectiveness and impact of our program is extremely important, and we get results!
