Options for Learning names new CFO

Options for Learning CEO Paul Pulver announced today that Dominic R. Alpuche would be joining the agency's executive team as chief financial officer. With more than 20 years in grant management and financial administration, Alpuche has extensive experience in administering federal, state, and local agency grants, as well as foundation grants. His collaborative and forward-thinking management style will be an asset to the Options for Learning team.

Most recently, as director of finance and senior fiscal officer at the University of California at San Diego Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS), Alpuche stabilized the organization’s financial structure and funding by evaluating resources and allocating staff more efficiently, allowing ADCS to take on additional clinical trials and research efforts. He also administered internal financial policies and procedures for $90 million in project funding with annual expenditures of $30 million; negotiated contracts to leverage the agency’s purchasing power; and oversaw financial operations, including short- and long-term budgeting and strategic planning.

Prior to his work at ADCS, Alpuche worked at the University of Southern California as chief business officer for the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, where he managed business and research operations with a budget in excess of $35 million. Earlier, he served as assistant director of business and technology for the Center for Urban Education and assistant director of budgets and compliance for the TRiO Programs and School for Early Childhood Education, where he gained extensive experience and knowledge managing Head Start program grants, including specific financial regulations and detailed audit requirements.

Alpuche earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy management from USC and a master’s degree in business administration, accounting and finance from the Florida Institute of Technology.
